Doug Jones Day III (Hocus Pocus)
Happy Doug Jones Day everybody! It's our third consecutive year celebrating actor Doug Jones (although technically this is the 12th anniversary of the original Doug Jones Day), but it's the first time we're reviewing a Disney movie on our podcast! For this year's Doug Jones Day episode, we're discussing 1993's Hocus Pocus, wherein Doug Jones plays "Billy Butcherson" in one of his earliest roles.
This is a beloved movie in several corners of horror fandom, and was a gateway horror movie to many, many people. We had a blast talking about it, and we hope everyone enjoys the episode.
And most importantly: thank you so much for listening!
CONTENT WARNING: although we're doing a Disney movie for this episode,
we are still our usual profanity-laced selves throughout the discussion. There are also excerpts read from an old draft of the script that feature jokes more mature/coarse than those in the finished film, and some jokes that have not necessarily aged well since the 90s. So the movie itself may be family-friendly, but please note that this episode/conversation is not.
